The legendary American comedian, Jerry Lewis, recently had a heart attack while flying from New York to San Diego. According to Candi Cazau, spokeswoman for Las Vegas New Orleans Hotel & Casino, Lewis was going to perform in the casino next month. The stroke wasn’t too serious and the comedian is recovering at a local hospital.
This is not the first time the 80-year-old comedian has health problems. In the last 20 years he has had serious illnesses such as prostate cancer and meningitis. However, casino spokespersons said that Lewis’s doctors announced his prompt recovery so his presentations won’t be cancelled, just postponed.
Lewis became famous for his presentations with Dean Martin in the 50’s and for roles in movies such as “The Ladies Man and The Original” and “The Nutty Professor”. In a previous press conference, the comedian declared that he was planning to do a new musical version of “The Nutty Professor” and present it in Broadway.
